STREB: Surprises was one of the largest public events of the London2012 programme. The event was produced by London International Festival of Theatre, for whom I worked for 7 months last year as Production Manager on the project. TB

The film is an (unconventional) love story and being made on a micro-budget and our ambition is to make a simple, true, beautiful, absurd little film. No-one working on the film will take any fee for their work, but as working professionals we are liberated by the prospect of doing a project for the fun of it !

But, we need your help…

We have a number of scenes over the course of the four day shoot in which we need extras in the background of certain locations to create a realism for the scenes. Unfortunately we cannot offer a fee but hope that you might want to help out for the fun and experience of being involved and for the warm feeling guaranteed by helping to make the project happen. You’ll also be in the end credits (of course), and we’d love it if you came along for a screening of the finished film in a local pub with the cast and crew sometime in the new year.

The film is becoming (somewhat ridiculously) ambitious, with a fantastic core cast and crew assembling and a series of lovely Brighton locations. I heart chair  …an unconventional love story

A HandSprung Productions & The Spot Agency co-production

I heart chair is a short film being in shot in November with release expected in the New Year. The film explores a very conventional truth about love, in a very unconventional way.

Shot in various locations in our lovely Brighton, the film will be made by a professional cast and crew, on a micro-budget, but with cinema standard camera equipment to ensure what we capture will be beautiful.

No-one will take any fee or expenses for their work on the project, and we have no budget for equipment or location hire, transport, or other operating expenditure. As working professionals we are liberated by the prospect of doing a project for the fun of it, and our ambition is to make an excellent, simple, true, beautiful, absurd film.

George Ravenscroft, Writer / Director

George has been working in film production for the last twelve years and runs a production company in Brighton called The Spot Agency (www.thespotagency.com). He produces, writes and directs various projects for clients such as: Screen South, Duracell, Oglivy, BT, TEDx, Lighthouse, and The Arts Council.

 Patrick Bullock, Art Director

Patrick is a multi-disciplinary artist, who initially trained as an illustrator and graphic designer at St Martins and Brighton University. His background in two dimensional design has served as a strong base for his now diverse work which spans fine art exhibitions, community and education projects, carnival imagery, theatre, and film.  www.patrickbullock.com

Luis Posada, Director of Photography

Luis trained at Central Saint Martins College and the London College of Communications. His short film, Endstation Heimat, was selected for the BSC ‘New Cinematographers Night’ at Pinewood Studios and his expansive professional portfolio spans short films, advertising, music videos, corporate & documentaries.  www.luisposada.com

The event is a walk through central Brighton which seeks to raise awareness of the existence and possibility of recovery, to battle stigma and misconceptions about drug and alcohol problems and the people they affect, and to give the often unheard voices of recovery a platform.

The committee are holding a drop-in this Saturday, 25th August, between 11am – 3pm for anyone who is up for volunteering to marshal on the day (we need to recruit 40+ volunteers). The session is at the Mind offices, New England street, Brighton (next to the scrap metal merchants).

Drug and alcohol misuse is a big problem in Brighton. If you want to make a positive contribution by helping out, or event just find out more, drop by on Saturday.
